Today was beautiful. On the way home from school I ran into Daniel on his motorcycle, this ridiculously dashing Carioca who owns the Spanish tapas bar next door. He invited me to be a part of some sort of sustainable living center project he's doing in Santa Theresa. I'm fuzzy on the logistics but the words garden, recycle, sustainable and youth were used so that's enough info for me. After parting ways I saw Bruno who invited me up to meet all his friends visiting from New York and make plans to go to the beach. On the way to post12 I ate two salgadas de soja from BB Lanches, the most delicious juice bar in the city. The beach was fantastic, perfect water, perfect company. Now I'm at home making lentil soup and feeling blessed.
Here's an interesting article that Globo put out today: http://g1.globo.com/Noticias/Mundo/0,,MUL1543867-5602,00-BUSH+LIMPA+A+MAO+EM+CLINTON+APOS+CUMPRIMENTAR+HAITIANO.html
For those who don't read português, it's a piece and video about how Bush and Clinton visited Haiti and Bush wiped his hand on Clinton after shaking hands with some Haitian. Nice one!
