Brothers and losers

A few days ago Caio and I were walking through Leblon when we saw one of Brazil's most famous celebrity couples. I didn't recognize them but Caio told me that the dude was Marcelo Camelo, the lead guitarrist of Los Hermanos, a really good brazilian ska band whose members are now in their early 30s. His girlfriend Mallu Magalhães is also a singer and looks like shes in her mid twenties but is actually 17 and has been dating Marcelo since she was 15ish...freak. The music they write together is actually really beautiful and it seems like they're in love for serious.

Marcelo and Mallu along with the rest of this country was in really low spirits yesterday when Brazil lost to the Netherlands. We watched the game at Copacabana with +20,000 people which was just depressing because at the end everyone was crying and upset. Before we even go to the car after the game, people were already talking about how if Argentina won against Germany, the world would be over two times. Luckily this morning Germany won with the support of 8,000 people who showed up at the FIFA stadium in Copa! Brazilians really hate Argentines. Sorry Maradona.

Despite everyone's low spirits Lapa was still the place to be last night and I went out with Krystal for our last friday together. We went to one of our favorite dancing spots where girls get in for $R5--wonderful. While we were there I realized there can't be a place in this hemisphere better for partying that Rio de Janeiro and if there is, I don't want to go there because it must be scary as hell.
