Thanks to my Brazilian and American dads, the weight of last week's hardships have been lifted off my shoulders and I'm feeling back to normal. Caio is so much like a father/friend to me here and his similarities with my own dad surprise me everyday. (Just now he was serving himself ice cream and putting milk in the bowl to make some weird dessert soup...something my dad did probably every day of my life ages 2-9, that I remember anyway).
Rio has been strangely cloudy for the past week so my lazy routine of school-eat-beach-study-run-talk to Filipe-sleep schedule has been minus sun. This usually results in me going cabin fever in the house and raiding Caio's enormous DVD collection and starting a new television series. This weekend it was Planet Earth--so beautiful. The house was also full this weekend with people from Cuiabá: Lygia's boyfriend Bren as well as Caio's sister Mariana and her fiancé.
It was Bren's birthday last week so I FINALLY got to use a joke I had been developing since I met him. Parabéns means 'congratulations/happy birthday' and I always thought it would be fun to say ParaBRENS to him. When he arrived we all waited for him at the elevator singing Parabréns para você..parabréns para você...'Happy birthday to you...happy birthday to you' which was funnier for all of us than the birthday boy himself.
Living in the international house of Leblon always is confusing my future plans. Today I wrote a list of desired destinations...
Miami, NYC, Montreal, JAPAN, Tel Aviv, the northeastern region of Brazil, BOLIVIA & PERU, SPAIN, London, FRANCE, Mumbai, New Dehli, SRI LANKA, GUATEMALA, Seol, GERMANY, Havana
