Cidade Maravilhosa

THINGS THAT ARE GETTING OLD
-sunburns
-indescribable heat (which can only be remedied by air conditioning that makes you sick)
-fb event invites for things happening in Santa Cruz
-only getting attention from assholes

THINGS THAT ARE SICK AS EVER
-açaí
-mango
-guavas
-passionfruit
-Rio's couchsurfing community
-Brazil MTV actually has music videos
-endless summer in the Cidade Maravilhosa

I just threw some garlic in with the beans on the stove and am now resting in the family room after going on a run with Lygia. My days since school has ended have been lazy as ever, but I did manage to watch an entire season of True Blood in two days (embarrassing...Alexander Skarsgard is my new celebrity crush which makes me wonder about myself).

In attempt to put an end of my laziness I met up with some people to climb the Pedra da Gávea yesterday. What I didn't realize though was that they were planning on spending the night up there, so I had to bail last minute considering it was definitely going to rain and I had only brought a backpack with a camera and cellphone. I decided to walk alone to Parque Lage, this mansion/park that now serves as a public garden and art school. It's right next to the botanical gardens but it's free to enter and actually much nicer. This is the view from inside the art school where I drank a mate and sweat all of my liquids.

Walking around the city in running shorts with a backpack (I thought I was going hiking after all) is really weird because everyone stares at you. It was considerably more comfortable walking in running shoes though so I understand why they are the tourist must-have.

Here's a belated presentation of my apartment...
